Tongli is a beautiful waterfront town neighboring Suzhou. Thanks for its isolated location, Tongli stayed away from numerous wars in history and the ancient architectures were well preserved to its authentic appearance.
Tongli is located on the eastern bank of the Taihu Lake and shore of great canal. It is only 18 km from Suzhou and 100 km from Shanghai. Separated from the outside by rivers and lakes, Tongli stayed away from numerous wars in history, so that the town keeps most of its authentic architectures. Deep in the street, there is a must-see garden called Tuisi Yuan (also known as Retreat and Reflection Garden). This private dwelling was elected as one of the “Top Ten China’s Best Scenic Spots” in 1986. The town is surprisingly beautiful with a tranquil atmosphere.
Tour starts from Shanghai hotel at 8:00 and arrives the town by 1.5 hours drive. Guide will company you to stroll along the riverside walkway, visit Tuisi Garden and take a boat ride to the rivers.
Tour ends around 5:30pm at your Shanghai hotel or a point in the city center on request.
