After breakfast, we meet at your hotel lobby and drive to Qiaotou, the starting point of hiking at Tiger Leaping Gorge.
It will take us about 6 hours to cover the whole route. The first two hours from Qiaotou to Naxi Inn is quite easy. We stop and have lunch to gain energy.
Afternoon hiking is quite strenuous to most of us. The steep 28-bends is waiting ahead on the way from Naxi to the Tea-horse Hostel, taking 2-3 hours to climb. But views are amazing.
Continue another 2 hours to arrive at the half-way guest house which provides great view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and overlooking at the Jinsha River Valley.
Enjoy cool wind from the mountains.
You can get up early to enjoy sunrise. Then we continue the hike down to the riverside of Tiger Leaping Gorge, passing by Tina's Inn and Teacher Zhang Inn. The duration is about 3 hours. The middle gorge is the most magnificent part and the hardest for hikers. Deafening sounds filled the valley when water flaps on stones.
Climb up to back to the road (there are three options: teacher Zhang Inn, the ladder and narrow path called “yixiantian”. Choose the one according to your own ability). Then continue the trek to Walnut Garden. You will see beautiful views of the lower gorges alongside. Cross the river by ferry to Daju and transfer back to Lijiang hotel.
