Located at the meeting point of inland rivers and the sea, Guangzhou has long been one of China’s main commercial and trading centers. Today it is one of wealthiest parts of China, but it never slows down the pace of development. Take a day to visit the old and new landmarks to see Guangzhou’s history and modern appearance.

Chen Clan Ancestral Hall used to be a private house for Chen family to pray for their ancestors. There are 19 buildings in the traditional Lingnan style, all featuring exquisite carvings, statues and paintings, and decorated with ornate scrollwork throughout. It is now used as “Guang Dong Local Arts Museum”, with interesting exhibitions about local traditional lifestyle and culture.

Lychee bay or Lizhi Wan is a typical south China’s water town featuring architectural art of Ming and Qing dynasties, Guangdong cuisine and local activities. It has been reconstructed to a fascinating tourist place.

When seeking for a great view of the city’s modern appearance, the new urban central and the Pearl River scenery zone is the right place. We have a glimpse over the Ersha Island and Haixinsha Island where sits the Asian Games Park. Right across the river in the north, is the Flower City Square. It is the largest square in Guangzhou and said to be the “living room of the city”. A leisure walking is very rewarded with great views of the surrounding buildings including the two towers, opera theatre and Guangzhou museum etc.

Coming To the south bank of Pearl River, we take pictures of the Canton Tower, the highest TV tower in China. The steel and concrete structure rises high in the clouds. Journey up to the tower is optional and early request is suggested due to the limits of visitors.

When the tour concluded, back to your hotel in Guangzhou.
