Hong Kong and Guangzhou are approximately a 3-hour drive apart (travel time may vary during holidays due to traffic conditions). As Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China, traveling from Hong Kong to mainland cities like Guangzhou - or vice versa - requires passing through immigration checkpoints.
There are several transportation options between the two cities, including high-speed trains, ferries, buses, and private transfers. However, in terms of time efficiency and comfort - especially for travelers with large luggage or those attending trade fairs - a private transfer is the best choice.
ETripChina accepts both advance and last-minute bookings for seamless transfers between Hong Kong and Guangzhou, as well as surrounding cities including Shunde, Foshan, Jiangmen, Dongguan, and Zhongshan.

Is a China visa necessary?

What vehicle types are available?
Currently, only the 7-seater Toyota Alphard and 45/53-seat coaches are eligible for cross-border operation between Hong Kong and mainland China with special license plates.
How do I meet the driver?
Airport Pickup: The Alphard transfer service is personalized based on your actual landing time. The driver will meet you at the arrival hall, right outside the baggage claim area.
Hotel/Private Address Pickup: The driver will arrive at the appointed time. Please stay in touch via WeChat or WhatsApp, as most hotels in Hong Kong only allow temporary drop-off/pick-up.
What is the luggage allowance?
The 7-seat Toyota Alphard can accommodate:
6 pieces of 22-inch luggage, or
4 pieces of 24-inch luggage, or
2 pieces of 28-inch luggage (when all seats are occupied)
A 53-seat coach can hold up to 40 pieces of luggage (each under 26 inches) in its trunk.
How many passengers can ride?
The Toyota Alphard allows a maximum of 6 passengers, including infants. Please note that pregnant women are not permitted to travel in Alphard vans due to immigration regulations.
Is there an immigration check?
Yes. Immigration clearance is required at both the Hong Kong Port and Shenzhen Port. If traveling by Alphard, passengers only need to disembark once at the Shenzhen Port for customs inspection, along with all their luggage.
Will there be a language barrier?
Our drivers speak Mandarin and Cantonese. An English-speaking staff member will coordinate your transfer from pickup to drop-off. If needed, an English-speaking driver can be arranged at an extra cost with advance booking.

Price Includes:
Van rental with experienced driver, toll, parking and driver's salary.
Complimentary 30 minutes waiting time for pickup. Arrival transfers enjoy up to 60 minutes based on your actual landing time.
Price excludes:
Additional waiting surcharge of $30 on an hourly basis applies after 30 minutes for pickup and 60 minutes for arrival transfer.
An additional $40 PER VAN is applicable pickup earlier than 8:00am or see-off later than 7:00pm.

When the van is fully occupied with 6 passengers, the luggage space is limited.
For 1–3 passengers, the rear seats can be folded to provide ample trunk space.
Based on our experience, Canton Fair attendees are advised to limit the number of passengers to 3, or a maximum of 4 per van, to ensure sufficient room for luggage.
