Check eligibility: Ensure that you are a citizen of one of the 53 eligible countries, hold a valid international travel document and have confirmed onward travel tickets to a third country or region (e.g, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan). View the full list of eligible countries: China Visa-free Transit Policy: 24-hour, 72-hour, 144-hour

 

Plan your trip: Arrange your travel itinerary to have a confirmed onward ticket to a third country or region within 144 hours (6 days) of your arrival. Here are some examples to illustrate the correct and incorrect flight routes:

 

Correct:

UK – above mentioned ports – France

UK – Hong Kong – above mentioned ports– France

UK – above mentioned ports– Hong Kong – UK

Incorrect:

UK – Beijing – above mentioned ports– France

UK – above mentioned ports – Beijing – France


No additional stops are allowed in cities within China, except Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, during the transit.

Double-check your flight itinerary and consult with the airline or authorities to comply with transit visa regulations.

This helps avoid complications during your journey.

 

Choose a designated port: Select one of the approved ports of entry or exit in the region as listed. 

 

Arrive and complete immigration procedures: Upon arrival at one of the designated ports, proceed through immigration. Inform the immigration officers that you intend to make use of the 144-hour visa-free transit policy.

 

Enjoy your stay: During your visa-free period, you can explore and visit various attractions within Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu regions. Make sure to comply with local laws and regulations.

 

Depart within the allowed time: Ensure that you leave the region within 144 hours of your arrival, with a confirmed ticket to a third country or region. Depart from any of the approved ports of exit.

Note: If you arrive at 8:00 PM on August 1st, the counting of hours will start from 12:00 AM on August 2nd, and you can stay until Aug 7th for 144-hour transit visa.
