Zhangjiajie is situated in the northwestern part of Hunan Province of central China, the most fascinating is the Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, including Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianzi Mountain and Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve. l  Best time to visit Zhangjiajie:

Zhangjiajie boasts a subtropical mountain prototype monsoon humid climate, with adequate heat and light, abundant rainfall, long frost-free period, short cold period, four distinct seasons. The best times to visit Zhangjiajie are April-June and September-November, as these months offer comfortable weather, stunning scenery and relatively fewer people. When comparing to July and August, it become the most crowded and hotest time in Zhangjiajie, as it’s in summer holiday all over China.


l  Must-See Tourist Attractions in Zhangjiajie:

1.     Zhangjiajie National Forest Park:

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is in the Zhangjiajie city, northwest of Hunan province. The natural scenery of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is amazed by its peaks, secluded by its valleys and beautiful by its forests, hence the reputation of “Three thousand towering and magnificent peaks, eight hundred clear and beautiful waters”, and was added in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The main scenic spots include: Golden Whip Brook, Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie and so on.


Golden Whip Brook

Golden Whip Brook is the core scenic spot of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, it got the fame as it flows through the Golden Whip Rock. Walking along the stream, flowers blooming and green grass, birds singing and warbler crowing, clear waters ups and downs with swimming fish, which brings you into a nice painting, known as” One of the most beautiful valleys in the world”.

Standing in the Yuanjiajie scenic observation platform, you will enjoy panoramic view of three thousand fantastic towering sandstone and limestone formations in different expressions, magnificent and breathtaking.

The First Bridge Under the Sun spans between two mountains from which offers you the spectacular scenery with white clouds flying, peaks towering and overlapping. It is the largest natural authigenic stone bridge with the largest vertical elevation difference found in the world.

And the most attractive experience is to take the Bailong Elevator, which takes visitors to top of Yuanjiajie directly. Bailong Elevator is the highest, fastest, fully exposed outdoor double-decker sightseeing elevator with the largest capacity in the world.


2.     Tianzi Mountain

Tianzi Mountain is located in the north of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, near Suoxi Valley Scenic Area in the east. Here you’ll find scenes of the mountain greet you in different seasons. There are four wonders: Sea of Clouds, the Radiance of the Moonlight, Rays of Sunshine and the Snow in winter.


3.     Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve

Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve is in the northeast section of Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area. Suoxi Valley, or Suoxiyu in Chinese, means a“foggy mountain village”in the local Tujia language. It’s famous for its unique mountains, clear water, precipitous bridge, and secluded caves. The popular scenic spots include Xihai, Ten-Mile Gallery, Water Around Four Doors, Huanglong Cave, Baizhang Gorge, Baofeng Lake and so on


4.     Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon & Glass Bridge

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is located in Sanguansi township, Cili County, Zhangjiajie City, close the Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is known as the "Zhangjiajie Landscapes Museum" and gathers mountains, water, cave, lake in one. The plank road around the Canyon stretches for several miles, waterfall, god spring could be found everywhere, especially the misty streams all the year round, making it a heaven here.

A thrill attempt will be walking across the Glass Bridge, which is world's longest and highest glass-bottom bridge and spans two cliffs. Standing on the Glass Bridge make you feel like floating in the air, meanwhile, you can have a superb panoramic view of the Grand Canyon with 400 meters below your feet.

A Strip of Sky is a narrow valley through which only one person can pass at a time. After passing through the valley, the Sky Ladder Plank Road comes to eyes. This road is very steep, and the planks are narrow, making it look like a sky ladder. Walking along it you will touch the cliff in zero distance, feeling the miraculous natural world in this Grand Canyon.


5.     Tianmen Mountain

Tianmen Mountain is named after its natural wonder Tianmen Cave. When visiting Tianmen Mountain, you can overlook the stunning scenery at the foot of Tianmen Mountain from taking the cableway. Tianmen Mountain Cableway is the world's longest, and starts in the City Garden Cableway Station, and ends on the summit. It hangs like a rainbow but seem more like a dragon in the clouds. This one-way cableway runs about 28 minutes, along the way you’ll enjoy the wonderful scenery from urban, idyllic, steep peaks and to deep gullies, which show you a marvelous picture, hence the reputation of "The First Aerial Mobile Viewing Corridor”.

Tianmenshan Glass Sky Walk is a courage challenge in Zhangjiajie. The glass path in Tianmenshan is built on the cliffs, unlike the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, which is built above the canyon. The path is all made of transparent glasses. Walking on the Glass Sky Walk, you will experience the thrill of viewing the great deep valley under your feet and enjoy the pleasure of walking in the sky.


6.     Baofeng Lake

As one of the World Natural Heritage, World Geopark, Baofeng Lake is located in the heartland of Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area. It is known as the "World Lakes Classic" and combins of natural landscape and cultural folk type lake scenic spots. Baofeng Lake is surrounded by mountains with many waterfalls pouring down.

7.     Yellow Dragon Cave

l  How to get to Zhangjiajie:

By Air:

In the past few years, Zhangjiajie railway line is not so developed, only T, Z, K trains connecting Zhangjiajie to Chongqing, Guizhou, and some cities of Hunan.

A big change came by the end of 2019, bullet trains were operated between Zhangjiajie and Changsha, the capital city and a crossroad of our East to West, North to Southwest train line. Thus, a comfortable journey to Zhangjiajie has come true. Now C trains from Changsha Railway Station to Zhangjiajie West Station, shortens the journey between 2.4 hours and 3.4 hours.
