Shigatse(日喀则) is the second-largest city in Tibet and is located 277 kilometers west of Lhasa city. It is an important cultural and religious center in Tibet with a history dating back to the seventh century. The city is home to the famous Tashilhunpo Monastery, which was founded by the first Dalai Lama in 1447 and is one of the most important Gelugpa monasteries in Tibet.
