144-hour visa-free transit in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei

Since December 28, 2017, Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province have implemented a 144-hour visa-free transit policy for foreigners from 53 countries. Travelers with valid international travel documents and onward tickets to a third country or region (e.g., Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan) can enter or exit through designated ports, enjoying a visa-free stay of up to 144 hours in the region. This allows for more flexibility in travel and exploration within the three regions in one trip.

Who has the Eligibility for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei 144-hour transit visa?

The eligibility criteria include:

a. Holding a valid passport from one of the eligible countries. View the full list of eligible countries: China Visa-free Transit Policy: 24-hour, 72-hour, 144-hour. 

b. Having a valid onward ticket to a third country or region (e.g., Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan) within 144 hours.

c. Entering Beijing through one of the designated ports of entry (airports, railway stations, or ports).

c. Staying within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region during the transit period.

Remember that you are not permitted to have additional stops in other cities within China except the mentioned ports and Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan. Duration of stay in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei

Travelers can stay within the designated regions for up to 144 hours (6 days) without a visa.

If you arrive at 8:00 PM on August 1st, the counting of hours will start from 12:00 AM on August 2nd, and you can stay until 11:59 PM on Aug 7th for 144-hour transit visa. Hence, the authorized duration of your stay is typically over 144 hours.
