There are 12 pairs of train per day running between Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway Corporation manages and operates 3 pairs of the trains (KTT), T823/824, T825/826, T827/828. Others are operated by Guangzhou Railway Corporation. Facilities differ on these two kinds of trains.

Checking in

• Passengers are advised to reach Railway Station for at least 45 minutes before train departure to clear customs and get onboard. • Luggage weight is limited to 20kg for adult and 10kg for children (including children under 5). Baggage size is limited to 160cm (width, length and height combined).

Lost Ticket

Tickets are not issued under passenger's personal information. If you lost the ticket or forgot to bring along, you have to bear the loss and purchase again.

Change and Cancellation

• Changes and cancellation are required to make at the issuing station (Guangzhou East Station or Hung Hom Station) by ticket holder.

• Every ticket enjoys one free change but changed ticket cannot be cancelled or refunded.

• Penalty charged by station depends on the time when cancellation successfully done: 2 hours to 2 days prior- 50% of ticket rate charged; 3-14 days prior – 30% of ticket rate charged; 15 days prior - $3 charged per ticket. No extra charges from ETripChina but we can only change or cancel ticket from Monday to Friday at working hours.

• Service fee is non-refundable.

Onboard Facilities

Facilities and services differ a bit on the two kinds of trains. The 3 pairs of KTT trains operated by Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway Corporation. Staff onboard can speak better English and Cantonese. Other T trains are operated by Guangzhou Railway Corporation and most staff can speak Cantonese and Mandarin but might be little English. Facilities differences are listed below but not many. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
