D2 Beijing - Mutianyu Great Wall ,Temple of Heaven

  • Take an easy or complete two hours hike on Mutianyu Great Wall which is much less crowded than Badaling and not heavily restored.

Mutianyu Great Wall

The Great Wall of China is one of the wonders of the world. It is one of the few man-made objects on earth that can be seen on the moon. Mutianyu Great Wall is the essence and one of the best-preserved sections of the Great Wall, which is located in the northeast of Beijing and restored in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).Because of the important geographic position, it is called as the Majestic Pass on Precipitous Mountains. Its construction has a unique style and the view is spectacular especially from tower 21 to 23. There are secure, convenient and rapid cable cars in the scenic area, which will offer you to experience a panoramic view of the Great Wall.

Temple of Heaven

Temple of Heaven is built in 1420 and its construction is the largest existing temple, which is included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1998.The temple was where emperors went to worship heaven for good harvest. It is not only the pearl of ancient Chinese architecture but also a gem of architectural history of the world.

  • It requires two hours to forward the Great Wall if you have a complete tour there. And wear comfortable shoes and pack light.

Tiananmen Square

Tiananmen Square is one of the largest public city squares in the world, covers a total area of 440,000 square meters. It was the place for important ceremonies during the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty and was rebuilt in Qing Dynasty. The place has witnessed some of the most important moments in China's history. It represents authority and power, with unrivaled significance, attracts tourists from all over the world. Standing on its four sides are all important political and cultural sites including the Forbidden City, Great Hall of the People, the National Museum.

The Forbidden City

The Forbidden City, or Imperial Palace, was home to 24 Emperors for almost 500 years from Qing Dynasty to Ming Dynasty. The complex is well preserved with 980 buildings over 720,000 m2. Great squares, halls, gates, gardens and courtyards form a 'city within a city'. Since 1925, this imperial palace has been turned into a museum exhibiting extensive collections of artifacts and artwork. During visiting the colorful architectural art of the Forbidden City, we will also watch the display in the Palace Museum where a lot of treasures have been keeping.


Hutong has long history dating back from the Yuan dynasty. It has witnessed the change and development of Beijing. Many of these traditional neighborhoods had been destroyed in the development of modernization. The most notably those around the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower and close to the Forbidden City are well preserved. Simply wandering around or taking a rickshaw tour to navigate Hutong and stop anywhere to take photos, you will be surprised by the courtyards, local market, local customs by getting to the deepest Hutong alleys.

Jingshan Hill

Jingshan Hill, a former imperial garden with beautiful surroundings, is located in the north of the Forbidden City and covers an area of 23 hectares. Jingshan Park is known for its diverse collection of peony in 150 brands, covering eight color series and nine flower shapes. Standing on top of the hill, you can overlook a panoramic view of the Forbidden City. Here is also an excellent place for local elderly people gathering.

Travel Tips:

  • Tour today is getting more relax than day one but still requires some walks within the parks and stairs up onto the Jinshan Hill that taking some 10- 15 minutes.
  • Prepare some changes if you would like to tip the rickshaw driver.

The Summer Palace

With a history of nearly 1000 years, Summer Palace in Beijing is said to be the best preserved imperial garden in the world and the largest of its kind in existence of China. It consists of natural hills, lake, and over 3000 man-made pavilions, palaces, temples, bridges and corridors. It is quite enjoyable to have a relaxing stroll, a boat cruise or discover the aged architectures.
If tour during April to Early October, guide will take you to enjoy a relaxing boat ride to view the spectacular scenery from distance.

The Olympic Green was constructed for the 2008 Olympic Games, and was turned into a park after the Game. The notable architectures - Water Cube and Bird Nest situate in the park.

The Terracotta Army

The Terracotta Army, an underground construction and terracotta figures, is located in Lintong County. It was found in 1974 and composed of three different sizes of the pit, with a total area of nearly 20000 square meters. Pit layout is reasonable, the structure is unique. The Terracotta Army is unearthed 5 meters beneath the surface and about 4 km. It is referred to as "the eighth wonder of the world", which is the largest underground military museum in the world and has been listed in "the world heritage list" by UNESCO since 1987.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda
Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in Xi'an, about 4 kilometers from the downtown of the city. It is a famous spots to tourists. It was a five-story construction and then it was built with a seven-story structure. This pagoda is an architectural marvel. It was built with layers of bricks but without any cement in between. It reflects the people's wisdom and talents of ancient China. It is a well-known ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists and regarded as the symbol of the ancient capital of Xi 'an. Standing on the top of it, you can get a panoramic view of Xi'an and the garden around.

Shaanxi History Museum
Shaanxi History Museum is located in the south suburb of Xi'an. It is one of the four largest museums in China, whose architecture and design are complex in the Tang Dynasty. It is symmetric in design, with a main hall in the middle and side pavilions. It is home to a good number of valuable historic artifacts, which show the political, economic, and cultural civilization of ancient China. It houses over 300,000 items and most of them are nation's treasures. It is reputed as "the pearl of the ancient capital, treasure house of Huaxia".

Ancient City Wall
The well-preserved walls, ramparts, gates and watchtowers are great evidence of the city's history. The Wall is composed of a series of military installations including the moat, drawbridge, gate building, Jianlou Tower, Zhenglou Tower (the main building), Jiaolou Tower (turret), Dilou Tower (watchtower), Nv'er Qiang (parapet) and crenel. Complete City Wall, together with the moat and Around-Xi'an Park, has become a must-see scenic spot of Xi'an city.

Rickshaw ride
With a history over 2,500 years, Suzhou has abundant historical sites. Most of them scatter around the old streets in the city center. Rickshaw ride is an interesting way to enjoy a look of local people's life and the exquisite spots lay quietly in the old streets.

Humble Administrators Garden
The Humble Administrator's Garden is the largest one in Suzhou covering an area over 5 hectares. It is considered to be the finest and most impressive garden in all of southern China. It contains zigzagging bridges, numerous pavilions, connected ponds and islands, bamboo groves, plenty of bonsai, a teahouse and a museum which had good information on garden construction and comparison between Chinese, Asian & Western gardens.

Tongli Mingqing Street
Tongli Mingqing Street is several hundred year old - dating to the Ming and Qing Dynasties but very well preserved. The 160 meter street has a bustling and cheerful atmosphere and there are many shops offering local specialties. You can also sample food, delicacies and traditional arts and crafts.

Night Tour of Nets Master Garden
It is the smallest of the Suzhou residential gardens and the most exquisite in design. It is the most impressive because of its use of space that creates the illusion of an area that is much greater than its actual size.Its has a series of lovely pavilions around a central pond, rocks and plants uses design details filled with symbolism and story references, with delightful touches such as the mirror backing that provides three moons (sky pond and mirror).

It is considered as one of the renowned gardens in south China retaining some of best Chinese traditional architecture and culture. The garden houses many items with unique characteristics. Yuyuan Market
Located next to the Yuyuan Garden and also known today as the City God Temple, it was built in the fifteenth century during the Ming Dynasty. The City God Temple is a Taoist temple which is composed of many halls such as the Grand Hall, Middle Hall, Bedroom Palace, Star Gods Hall and etc. The City God Temple has a great influence on the residents of Shanghai. The religious festivals of the temple are considered to be the festivals for all Shanghai people.

The Shanghai World Financial Center
The 492-meter high building is the tallest skyscraper in China, standing in the Pudong district of Shanghai. It is a mixed-use building accommodating offices, conference rooms, observation decks, shopping malls, financial institutions and hotels after its completion in 2008. On the 100th floor, it is amazingly equipped with a glass in the center. Many people come for a challenge and a panoramic view of Shanghai.

The Bund
The Bund is one of the most attractive sights in Shanghai lying on the western bank of Huangpu River in the city center. It is home to 52 buildings of different European architectural styles that once housed banks, trading companies, consulates from United Kingdom, France, Russia, United States, etc. It is enjoyable to take a walk alongside and discover the "museum of buildings". The view over the river is also stunning with many skyscrapers in good shape. An evening cruise provides even better view when all the buildings lit up.

Nanjing Road
One of the most famous shopping streets in the world. Giant shopping centers, specialist boutiques, international brands, local upmarket goods - it's all here; it's very busy, and at night it really glitters. It's a fascinating glimpse of modern, commercial China.

A great area to explore, from the old European buildings in shady avenues to the cafes and restaurants and upmarket shopping area of Huaihu Lu.

Jade Buddha Temple is an active Buddhist temple with two previous statues of Buddha, carved from rare single blocks of white jade adorned with precious stones. The temple was listed in 1983 as a key Buddhist temple in the Han nationality regions by the State Council. There are many precious Buddhist classics and cultural relics in Jade Buddha Temple, which attract many tourists come to visit. It is a hive of activity with monks, worshippers and visitors, and taking photos of the Buddha are forbidden.

Shanghai Museum is one of the most incredible museum in China housing more than 120, 000 pieces of collections. Many of them are China's most precious artifacts such as jade, furniture, costumes, pottery, calligraphy and currency. Located near the People's Square in the center of Shanghai, it is easy to visit together with other attractions in the area.
