Arrive in Xian (Flight not included)

On arrival at Xian airport, your guides and driver will meet and escort you to hotel downtown. Onward tours include Shanxi History Museum, one of the nation's best, and Ancient City Wall that was the fortification encircles the old Xian city.

Xian – Terracotta Army

Today's sightseeing highlighted by the Terracotta Army founded 40km east of Xian city and the Buddhist site - Big Wild Goose Pagoda in downtown area.

The Terracotta Army is a large number of life-size clay sculpture buried 2km in front of the Emperor Qinshihuang's Tomb. In the museum, visitors can view 1,868 unearthed terracotta warriors and chariots that have been restored to their former glory as well as a digging site where the craftsman restoring the broken pieces.

Xian to Dunhuang

Take morning walk to the Muslim Street before taking flight to Dunhuang city. For those who would like to sleep late, can move this visit to day 2. When arrive in Dunhuang, be met and transferred to hotel for a rest.

The Muslim quarters lies 100 meters west of the Bell tower in downtown Xi'an. The 500 meters long avenue paved by bluestones are dotted with many unique stall, souvenir shop, café and bars which are mostly run by Muslim people. Tourists, especially from overseas come and shop here.

Dunhuang – Mogao Caves

Dunhuang is famous for the Mogao Caves located in the south suburb of the city. Adjacent is the Singing Sand Mountains and Crescent Spring. Experience a Camel ride in the surrounding desert.

Mogao Grottoes or Mogao Caves are a set of temples carved into cliffs 25 km southeast of Dunhuang city. The caves contain the largest and the richest Buddhist art in the world reflecting the political and social situations from 4th to the 14th century in Chinese history. Reaching this important site along the Silk Road, visitors will be able to view 10 of them according to the temperate allocation.

Dunhuang to Turpan (Overnight train)

Today's tour take you further into the desert west of Dunhuang city. Sightseeing spots include Yumenguan Pass – the former west gate of Han Dynasty, the Great Wall of the Han Dynasty – eroded in centuries but still impressive, and Yadan Geological Park. Take overnight train to Turpan around 10 pm.

Yadan Geological Park is located 180km west of Dunhuang city with an area of approximately 400 square kilometers. The land formations are unique and varyfrom each other, forming a stunning desert view. The park is vast, you can spend as much as your time to explore and track the trail of Silk Road caravans.

Arrive in Turpan

Overnight train takes about 7.5 hours and you arrive in Turpan early in the morning. Check in your hotel with the help of your guide and take onward tours to Suleiman Minaret, Karez Wells, the Ruins of the Ancient City of Jiaohe and enjoy a local vineyard visit.

The Karez Well refers to the Karez water system created by Turpan people in ancient times. It is made up of a series of vertical dug wells and linked by underground channels to collect and transfer water. Karez Well was the main factor that made Turpan an oasis and a famous stop along ancient Silk Route.

Turpan to Urumqi

Drive for Heavenly Lake, some 40km away from Urumqi. Take a boat ride there to enjoy the stunning nature view. Back to hotel in Urumqi in late afternoon.

Located 45km east of Urumqi city, the Heavenly Lake (Tian Chi) is a beautiful alpine lake with Bogda range as backdrop. The lake is 2,000 meters above sea level, covering 4.9 square kilometers. It is now facilitated with walking tracks around the lake and boat ride as well.

Urumqi to Kashgar (Flight no. TBA)

Board morning flight to Kashgar, the westernmost Chinese city, standing on the border with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Here the Chinese civilization met with the Western's, as well as ethnic minority traditions. After a short rest, immerse yourself in the Bazaar, Id Kah Mosque and Zhiren Street.

Kashgar Bazaar is renowned as the biggest one in central Asia serving locals and merchants for more than 2,000 years. It once was a key trading point along the Silk Road and still serves as the biggest business center in northwest of China. The area is extremely packed on Sunday selling everything that populace wants. Visitors may find interests in a section on the northern part that provide musical instruments, fur caps, carpets and all kinds of souvenirs.

Kashgar – Karakuli Lake

A day excursion to Lake Karakuli.
