You will be met at the lobby of your hotel by our guide and drive to the most famous places to visitors in Beijing including the Forbidden City, the Imperial Palace for 24 Emperors between 1420 and 1911, and the Tiananmen Square, the largest public city square in the world. If time permits, you can take a short hike to the Jingshan Park which offers a great bird view of the Forbidden City.

Datong has a history over 2,400 years and a series of splendid cultural relics left in and around city from its prosperous days as cultural, economic and military center of ancient North China.

On arrival at the early morning, you will be met and transferred to check in (at shoulder season) or fresh yourself with a warm breakfast. Then start the day with Yungang Grottoes - mountain-side caves filled with 51,000 Buddhist statues.

Datong to Pingyao with private transfer

Drive to Pingyao after breakfast and drop visit to Hanging Monastery and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda on the way. The great day will be highlighted by the Hanging Monastery - one of the remarkable sights in China with a complex of 40 rooms linked by mid-air walkways appeared to be stuck into the side of the cliff.

Arrive Pingyao in the late afternoon and check in for a good rest. Evening hours are free to wander around the streets nearby.

Take evening train to Xian. Journey time is approx. 3 hours. On arrival, be met and transferred to check in hotel.

A day to witness the famous Terra Cotta Warriors, one of the most important archaeological discoveries of modern times. The Temple complex has several large halls with some great Buddhist statues and murals.

Travel Tips

  • 1. On Beijing-Datong-Pingyao route, we use flight and private van instead to shorten time on the way. Trains are also available on this route. Discuss with a travel advisor to suit your specific needs.
  • 2. Train tickets in China are put on sale 60 days before departure. If your inquiry is sent within 60 days, the itinerary may have to be revised a bit depending on the tickets availability.
  • Although all train lines in China do not have formal luggage restrictions currently, it is wise to travel light. There is no luggage assistance available and you may need to carry the luggage go up and down stairs as some stations have limited number or no elevators at all.
