D1 Arrive Beijing

Guide and driver will meet your family at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in downtown Beijing. The rest of the day is at leisure on your own or take visit to the nearby spots depending on your arrival time;

D2 BEIJING ESSENTIALS

Today's Highlights:

  • Walk on the Tiananmen Square which is the geographic, political, and tourist center of the city. Taking a picture here is said to be a proof of being in Beijing.
  • Enjoy amazing architecture, extensive collections in Forbidden City and look into Chinese rich history.
  • Insight view of Beijing local people at Hutong area and pay home visit.

8:00 am, pick up from your hotel lobby; Start the day from Tiananmen Square ,spend 30 minutes also taking photos at Tiananmen Square, then enter the Forbidden City from there and spend the rest of the time in the palace until 11:30 am;

Tiananmen Square is the largest public city square in the world with a total area of 440,000 square meters. Standing on its four sides are all important political and cultural sites including the Forbidden City, Great Hall of the People, National Museum, government buildings and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum, it is a landmark of Beijing.

The Forbidden City or Imperial Palace, was home to 24 Emperors for almost 500 years from Qing Dynasty to Ming Dynasty. The complex is well preserved with 980 buildings over 720,000 m2. Great squares, halls, gates, gardens and courtyards form a 'city within a city'. Since 1925, this imperial palace has been turned into a museum exhibiting extensive collections of artifacts and artwork.

In the afternoon, enjoy authentic lunch at nearby local restaurant; Insider view of Beijing Hutong area; Learn to cook Chinese Cooking at local people's house in the Hutong area;

Hutong has long history dating back from the Yuan dynasty. It witness the change and develop of Beijing and showcase the normal life of the city. Many of these traditional neighborhoods had been destroyed in the development of modernization. Thanksfully, the most notably those around the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower and close to the Forbidden City are well preserved. Simply wandering around or taking a rickshaw tour to navigate Hutong and stop anywhere to take photos, you will be surprised by the courtyards, local market, local customs by getting to the deepest Hutong alleys.

Chinese Cooking, challenge your kids with a cookery class at local people's house in Hutong area. Most of them were inspired when the class begins at the local market. The teacher will help them choose ingredients and back to school to start from chopping, frying to seasoning. You will taste your own dishes afterwards. kids can learn some basic skill of Chinese cooking and taste their own dishes after class.

4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, drive back to hotel.

D3 BEIJING ESSENTIALS

Today's Highlights:

  • Take an easy or complete two hours hike on Mutianyu Great Wall which is much less crowded than Badaling and not heavily restored.
  • Discover the Temple of Heaven which is considered the most holy of Beijing's imperial temples. The architecture are magnificent. And it is a good place to encounter locals at parks surrounding it.

In the morning, pick up from your hotel lobby; discover the Temple of Heaven, join the locals for fun to fly kites at the Temple of Heaven if weather permits;

Temple of Heaven is a complex of religious building built in 1420 for the emperors to make sacrificial ceremonies and praying for harvests. It is listed as one of the world's heritage sites and also a must-see attraction in Beijing with a complex of religious buildings. It is now also a place where local people dance, practice Taichi and various kinds of exercise. Join the locals for fun to fly kites at the Temple of Heaven if weather permits.

In the afternoon, enjoy authentic lunch in local restaurant; Drive northeast to the Mutianyu Great Wall (with round way cable car), hike and photograph on the wall;

Mutianyu Great Wall is 70km northeast of downtown Beijing, a bit further than the most popular Badaling section. It is less crowded and the view is spectacular. The wall is well preserved and restored with rails at the steep points. Other facilities like cable car and toboggan are also available. For many people, walking up the seemingly endless stairs to the top is also a great experience.

4:50 pm – 5:30 pm, transfer back to your hotel.

Travel Tips:

• It requires a medium level of walk, two hours on the Great Wall if you have a complete tour there. Wear comfortable shoes and pack light.

• When getting to the Wall, you are exposed to sunlight or rain. Prepare sunglasses, sunscreen or umbrella accordingly.

D4 BEIJING ESSENTIALS

Today's Highlights:

  • Stroll along the long corridor in Summer Palace which is regarded as the longest art gallery in the world and has 14,000 traditional paintings painted on the beams.

8:30 am, guide wait for you at your hotel lobby; We will visit the famous imperial garden – the Summer Palace;

Summer Palace in Beijing is said to be the best preserved imperial garden in the world and the largest of its kind in existence of China. It consists of natural hills, lake, and over 3000 man-made pavilions, palaces, temples, bridges and corridors. Visitors can enjoy a boat ride in the park from April to October. It is quite enjoyable to have a relaxing stroll, a boat cruise or discover the aged architectures.

In the afternoon, have authentic lunch in the restaurant; Visit the Beijing Zoo where Kids may marvel at the Pandas, a unique creature of China. Continue a visit to the Beijing Aquarium which is the largest aquarium in a non-coastal city in the world

Beijing Zoo is the largest zoo in China and there are hundreds of different kinds of animals in it. You can see elephants, tigers, pandas and many other animals there, especially can't miss pandas. It's one of the most popular attractions among visitors who come to visit with children. You will have a good time there.

Beijing Aquarium is in the Beijing Zoo. It's ranked first the largest and most advanced facilities of inland aquarium in Asia. It's also the best place to get close to all kinds of sea creatures. You can greet a beluga whale at the Beijing Aquarium, watch the dolphin show or the seal perform. Children will be fascinated with a pacu. The fish is indigenous to Brazil and has become a popular pet fish in recent years. It will be an enjoyable experience in your tour.

  • Beijing allows 72 hour visa free transit and the tour matches the timing.
  • Physical rating of the trip: the trip involves light walking and hiking that is suitable for most fitness levels. For all who are able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, carry their own belongs at a minimum, would be able to complete the tour pleasantly.

We understand that there may be many unforeseen events happen. Please note with the cancellation policy if you have to cancel your tour after booking.

For land tours only:
1. 15 days before commencement of services: 100% refund.
2. 7 to 14 days before commencement of services: charge 10% of the tour price
3. 2 to 6 days before commencement of services: charge 50% of the tour price
4. within 2 days of commencement of services or no-show travelers: charge 100% of the tour price
After the trip has commenced, we are unable to refund any amount for unused services due to your willingness, early departure, late arrival, or missed days on tours.

If any air tickets/ train tickets /hotel booking made, all cancellation penalties imposed by the airline/ China Rail / Hotels will apply.

Can't believe we were able to visit all of this in five days. Thank you for the knowledge and patient tour guide Jack. He was so competent and really a good guide. We enjoyed the relaxing family tour. There was an amazing day in a private home. The chef taught us good knife skills, we learned Chinese cooking – fish dishes and dumplings. The food were so fresh and delicious. My children enjoyed it. This family tour is highly recommended.

Badaling Great Wall is close to Beijing, but personally I found Mutianyu to be a much better choice to visit, the Great wall was less crowded and the views are incredible. Mutianyu Great Wall is more beautiful and less crowded. And most parts of it are well preserved.
